The Embera – Baudo are an indigenous people group from Colombia. They live near the coastal rivers along the Baudo River and are comprised of different tribes and are distinguished by their dialect. Baudo is the dialect which these specific Embera people speak. Many of the Embera – Baudo live in remote areas and worship spirits and nature. The Embera – Baudo live primitive lifestyles and those who live in the remote villages do not use regular forms of currency and are not familiar with today’s modern advances.

Engagement // What’s Happening Now

There are very few Embera – Baudo believers in Colombia. A small nearby Embera tribe has been greatly impacted by the gospel. They speak a different dialect (Dobido) and have differing customs. Pray that the gospel may reach the Embera Baudo just as it reached their neighbors the Embera Dobido.

Entrepreneurs: Due to guerrilla wars many of the indigenous people of Colombia in remote regions were forced to flee into the cities or surrounding towns. Many of the Embera – Baudo were not accustomed to the modern advances. Are there any entrepreneurial insights which you may have to help the Embera – Baudo thrive in Colombia?

Readers, Writers, and Speakers: The Embera – Baudo do not have a complete Bible translation in their native language; the literacy rate among the Embera – Baudo is low. How can you use creative methods to teach and reach the Embera – Baudo as they come to know the gospel?

Problem Solvers: Though not a common practice some families may still practice female genital mutilation (FGM). Pray asking the Holy Spirit to lead you as to how a solution for this practice can be found and how you can present freedom and hope through Jesus.
