COUNTRIES: Algeria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco

The Shawiya live primarily in Algeria and speak the Tachawit language. After gaining independence from France, Algeria removed Christian missionaries in an attempt to promote Islam as the state religion. While many Shawiya are Sunni Muslims, they hold distinctive cultural rituals.

With the immigration of many Shawiya to Europe, new possibilities exist for missionaries to reach this people group with the gospel. Pray that the Shawiya encounter and be receptive to the gospel in all parts of the world.

Engagement // What's Happening Now

The increase of migration into countries in Europe affords opportunities for the church to be a witness. The Fellowship of European International Churches has made it a priority to extend the love of God to immigrants and internationals.

Partnership // Move Beyond

Please spend a few minutes in prayer for the following:

  • As numerous Muslim immigrants come to Europe, Pray God sends even more missionaries and church planters to see the need.
  • Pray for the Berber Shawiya, that God will reveal himself to them whether it be by churches, believers, or through miracles.
  • Pray that God softens the hearts of Berbers to the message of the gospel.
