The Bugis live in the province of South Sulawesi. They make their living as hunters, fishermen, and farmers, depending on whether they live near the coast or in the mountains. In Indonesia, 98.9% of Bugis are followers of traditional forms of Islam. The Bugis are superstitious and consider the first Wednesday and last Thursday of each month as good fortune.

Engagement — What’s Happening Now

About a decade ago the evangelical adherents among the Bugis were recorded at 0.001%. Through prayer and open doors, the number has increased to 0.40%.

Pray for boldness and perseverance for Bugi believers as they share the message of salvation in their own communities.

Sustainability — The Bigger Story

A few years ago a family was granted access to live among the Bugis. The opportunity marked the first time AGWM had received permission to serve among this unreached people group.

Pray for strength, courage, and endurance of this family, that many may join them as they work among the Bugis.
