The Bambara are a large ethnic group in West African countries. There were once two Bambara kingdoms, the Segu and Karta, until the 1800’s when Muslim groups overthrew the two Kingdoms. By the end of WWII, the Bambara had largely converted to Islam. The majority of Bambara are farmers or herdsmen. The Bambara people also combine ancestor worship and believe that spirits of ancestors can take the form of animals and vegetables.Engagement // What’s Happening Now

Pray for open doors in countries in West Africa, so that churches may be planted in Bambara villages. Pray also for AGWM Africa and Live Dead Africa as they work to engage the Bambara in West Africa.

Sustainability // The Bigger Story

Even though the majority of the Bambara live in West Africa, there are large populations of them dispersed throughout West Africa. Pray for the churches in West Africa, that God would order their steps to encounter and engage Bambara in their communities.

Partnership // Move Beyond

Please spend a few minutes in prayer for:

  • Pray God would reveal himself to the Bambara through dreams and visions.
  • Pray for Bambara who may be facing disease, poverty, or other forms of suffering that they may find hope and compassion in Jesus.
  • Pray for the few believers among the Bambara, that they may be strengthened and emboldened.
  • Pray that Bible resources would be made accessible in the region.
